Heading 1

Soon after my medical studies, at the age of 24, I was made the CEO of a 100-bed hospital. This act of folly by my boss was to have a profound impact on how my life turned out. It set me on a pursuit to understand the elusive nature of leadership.

One of the milestones in this journey was an encounter with the book ‘Return of the Prodigal’ by Henri Nouwen. This book is an exposition of Rembrandt’s painting by the same name. It opened for me a new dimension of understanding life and relationships. Moreover, it demonstrated the power of art to interpret life. And I was hooked!

This website is set up to explore important dimensions of leadership. Of particular interest is to see how art provides a deeper understanding of leadership that remain hidden to those of us who are only used to texts. I do not claim any expertise in critiquing art. But I have been greatly blessed and enriched by its message.

To a large extent, all great leaders are contemplatives. Without contemplating on life and leadership, it is impossible to lead well. Art provides a visual means for contemplation, in many ways different from that provided by the written word.

I hope this will be a collaborative effort of those interested in exploring art and leadership - a place where we can contemplate together, learn together and grow together.
